While picking up lots of pencils for the kiddos school back pack, go ahead and add a Pocket MBA for yourself. As a SMB channel partner, you know that game. Continuous education is a must do and it’s soon to be fall in the northern hemisphere. For those in the southern hemisphere, you can always go to summer school to earn your Pocket MBA.

The more meetings I’m in where I make mention of the Pocket MBA, the more favorable feedback I receive. Last week I had a one-hour meeting with Microsoft executive Cindy Bates discussing her new role (blog to follow soon folks) and we have a few extra minutes to discuss the SMB Nation Pocket MBA. She devoted her undivided attention to my story for over five minutes (we’re talking executive time her folks) and completely understood and support what we’re trying to do here.
So what is the “here” here? It’s providing a “quick hitter” MBA-level education to our SMB Nation tribal members so you can add value beyond in the traditional technical tool belt in a hybrid world of on-premises and cloud-based technologies! Ya’ simply gotta use more education to talk the talk (BusinessSpeak) and walk the new walk (GeekSpeak, CloudSpeak and VoIPspeak).
Let try one more time to make my point. I will use a sports analogy. The reason professional cyclists retire from the sport isn’t because they get burned out. Rather it is because they stop winning and no longer see forward progress. I look at it the same way in SMB IT. You’re passionate about the “bits” and are unlikely to burn out. However – it’s entirely possible you’ll stop winning in the “business” realm and get out of the game. The Pocket MBA certificate we have with Aspen University addresses this threat.
